600,000 Black women pushed out of the workforce. A new report from the Institute for Women’s Policy Research (IWPR) examines why.

But I believe there is hardly a Black woman in America who needs a report to tell her that something is happening.

There is an all-out assault on Black women in America.

It is almost as if the secret is out.

What secret, you ask?

• The secret of our power.
• The depth of our intellect.
• The strength of our resilience.
• And, most importantly, the anointing God has placed upon our lives.

We are builders. We are fierce leaders. We are educators, researchers, inventors, healers, communicators, advocates, and fighters. We have been creating, nurturing, leading, solving problems, and rebuilding what has been broken for generations.

We know what we carry.

And the world knows it, too.

Yet instead of recognizing, respecting, and properly valuing what Black women bring to our families, communities, workplaces, and nation, too many of us are experiencing dismissal, demotion, displacement, and doors being closed.

But perhaps the question is not simply, “Why is this happening?”

Perhaps the greater question is:

“What is God calling us to do now?”

And I believe the answer is this:

• Return to our roots.
• Return to what we know.
• Return to our Source.
• Return to our Manufacturer—the One who created us, gifted us, equipped us, and gave us purpose.
• Return to God.

Because when everything around us is shaking, God remains steady.

When we are overwhelmed, He is our peace.

When we don’t know what to do next, He is our direction.

When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will raise up a standard against him. (Isaiah 59:19)

And when we need protection—spiritually, emotionally, physically, and financially—there is no better place to run than to the One who created us.

Proverbs 3:5–6 tells us:

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”

So instead of spending all of our energy trying to figure out why these things are happening…

Instead of immediately trying to pick ourselves back up, find another job, start another business, reinvent ourselves, or figure out how to fix everything on our own…

STOP.

Take a breath.

And seek God first.

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”

What things?

The very things we are often exhausting ourselves trying to accomplish in our own strength.

God never intended for us to carry the weight of our purpose without Him.

Isaiah 55:6 says:

“Seek the Lord while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near.”

And 2 Corinthians 12:9 reminds us that His grace is sufficient for us and that His strength is made perfect in our weakness.

Jeremiah 33:3 says:

“Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.”

Maybe it is time to do something different.

Maybe it is time to stop asking only, “What should I do next?”

And start asking:

• “God, what are You saying?”
• “Why did You create me?”
• “What is Your purpose for my life?”
• “What assignment have You given me for this next season?”

And then—perhaps most importantly—

LISTEN.

• Don’t rush the answer.
• Don’t allow fear to make the decision for you.
• Don’t allow rejection to convince you that you have been forgotten.
• Don’t allow a closed door to make you believe that your purpose has been canceled.
• And don’t confuse a season of transition with a season of defeat.

God may be repositioning you.

The loss may be real.

The disappointment may be real.

The uncertainty may be real.

But so is God.

And if He created you, called you, gifted you, and assigned purpose to your life, then He already knows what comes next.

You don’t have to have it all figured out.

You just have to seek Him.

This is not about simply getting another job.

It is not merely about starting another business.

It is not about proving yourself to people who failed to recognize your value.

It is about discovering what God is doing in this next season of your life—and positioning yourself to participate in it.

It is time to seek God.

It is time to return to purpose.

It is time to walk boldly into the destiny He has preordained for you.

And if you don’t know where to begin, you don’t have to begin alone.

The Grace Dispensation

This morning, I was reading through the book of Lamentations, which comes right after Jeremiah, and one verse stopped me in my tracks. Lamentations 4:11 says, “The Lord gave full vent to his wrath. He poured out his hot anger, and he kindled a fire in Zion that consumed its foundations.” After spending time in Jeremiah and seeing how often God warned His people through the prophets, I was deeply moved by His patience. He gave the children of Israel opportunity after opportunity to turn back to Him. His faithfulness is astounding. His patience is beyond what we deserve. But Scripture also reminds us that there comes an appointed time when God will do exactly what He said He would do.

The children of Israel had become so comfortable in their sin and evil practices that they no longer listened to the voices of the prophets. And it was not only Jeremiah who warned them. Again and again, God sent messengers to call His people back. Yet instead of receiving correction, many rejected it. Some even punished the prophets and threw them into prison. Then, in Lamentations, we see the heartbreaking fulfillment of what had been spoken.

Lamentations 4:10 says, “The hands of compassionate women have boiled their own children; they became their food during the destruction of the daughter of my people.” That is a devastating picture. The judgment was so severe that people were burning and starving to the point of doing the unthinkable. When I read that, it gave me a sobering glimpse of just how far the people had fallen. It also reminded me that the sacrifice of children had become part of the evil practices among them, revealing how deeply corruption had taken root.

As I sat with that passage, I could not help but think about where we are today. I thought about what many in the church call the grace dispensation, this period in which God is extending grace to humanity. And if I am being honest, I do not believe we are as different from the children of Israel as we sometimes imagine. Because of grace, many have grown comfortable with sinful practices, both inside and outside the church. In some cases, the lines have become so blurred that it is difficult to tell the difference between those who belong to the church and those who do not. For many people, that confusion has even become a reason to avoid church altogether.

I also believe we are witnessing what Scripture describes as the great falling away in 2 Thessalonians. Many who once professed faith no longer seem interested in gathering with believers or hearing the truth of God’s Word. At the same time, I do believe there is still a remnant, faithful men and women who are willing to preach the truth with clarity and conviction. But it is also true that some hesitate to speak plainly because they fear losing parishioners, followers, or influence.

There is a real urgency in this hour. Those whom God has called to stand as part of His remnant can sense it deeply. There is an increasing awareness that the grace dispensation, or what many call the church age, will not continue forever. That is why there is such a burden to speak the truth, to call people back to holiness, and to help prepare God’s people for what is ahead.

Friend, I share this not from a place of fear, but from a place of love and conviction. God is still merciful. He is still calling people back to Himself. But His grace should never make us casual about sin. Instead, it should lead us to repentance, reverence, and a deeper desire to walk closely with Him while there is still time.

Why Purpose Matters

Purpose becomes clearer when your heart is positioned to hear from God.

2. Honor Biblical Stewardship

Prosperity in a biblical sense is not limited to finances. It includes how you manage your time, gifts, relationships, opportunities, and resources. Faithful stewardship prepares you for greater responsibility and creates room for lasting fruit.

• Use your gifts with intention
• Manage resources with wisdom and integrity
• Make decisions that reflect your values
• Prepare today for the legacy you want to leave tomorrow

3. Renew Your Mind

Many women are held back not by a lack of calling, but by fear, doubt, and limiting beliefs. Renewing your mind through biblical truth helps you replace confusion with confidence and hesitation with faith. Transformation begins internally before it becomes visible externally.

4. Walk in Obedience

Purpose is revealed step by step. You do not need every answer before you begin. Often, the next right step of obedience opens the door to greater understanding. Small acts of faithfulness can lead to significant kingdom impact over time.

5. Build with Legacy in Mind

True prosperity is not only about what you achieve for yourself. It is also about what you establish for future generations. When your life is built on biblical principles, your influence can strengthen your family, your community, and those who come after you.

Legacy is created through intentional choices, consistent faith, and a willingness to let God shape your path. Every season of growth, stewardship, and service contributes to something greater than the present moment.
